Do you offer a warranty?

+

Yes. Shield Plus Insulation Masters offers a 5-year warranty on materials. If the material shrinks or experiences a covered material problem, the company will return to address the issue according to the warranty terms.

What's the difference between closed-cell and open-cell spray foam?

+

Closed-cell foam is denser, has a higher R-value per inch (R-6.5–7.0), acts as a vapor retarder, and adds structural strength to walls. Open-cell foam is softer, more permeable, and expands more. For Houston's heat and humidity, we recommend closed-cell foam because it seals out moisture and delivers more insulation per inch of cavity depth.

Can you insulate an existing home, or only new construction?

+

Both. We insulate open stud cavities in new construction and also retrofit existing homes — most commonly by spraying the underside of the roof deck in the attic, which improves the whole-home thermal envelope without opening up walls. Blown-in insulation is also a fast, affordable way to top up an existing attic.

How long does spray foam insulation last?

+

Closed-cell spray foam does not settle, sag, or break down over time the way loose-fill or fiberglass insulation can. Properly installed, it can perform for the life of the building.

What's the best insulation for my attic?

+

It depends on your attic, your goals, and your budget. Closed-cell spray foam on the roof deck gives you the highest performance and air sealing; blown-in fiberglass or cellulose on the attic floor is the most cost-effective way to add R-value. We inspect the attic first and recommend what actually fits your situation.
